First things first, get the details on those arms here.
C’mon who doesn’t love Liz Lemon? I mean Sarah Palin. Oh, err, Tina Fey. I saw her on “Oprah” just as her book was coming out, and she is one funny lady. The craziest tidbit I learned from that interview: Tina Fey was filming a “30 Rock” episode with Oprah just hours before she debuted her Sarah Palin bit on “SNL.” Talk about multi-tasking, or as my Grandma would say “multi-taxing.”
The book is as hysterical as you would hope and endearing too: Fey describes her deep respect for her father, her clumsy struggles with breastfeeding, and torturous holiday car trips with toddlers. It’s eye-opening as well to imagine that producers, even just a handful of years ago, doubted women could be just as funny as men.
My all-time favorite quote was Liz describing her anxiety during her honeymoon cruise gone wrong:
“He [one of the ship’s crew] says the heat from the fire set off every fire alarm on the ship and so every chamber must be checked before we go back inside. Most people take this as good news. But I’m too smart for that. I know that extreme heat plus a burst fuel pipe means that the ship is going to explode now. While people around me start to relax, I keep my eyes on the sea, waiting to be rocketed into it on a wave of fire. I’ll be ready for it to happen and that way it won’t happen. It’s a burden being able to control situations with my hyper-vigilance, but it’s my lot in life.”
