I have become slightly obsessed with Babycakes over the past few weeks because the brand just SHINES in so many ways. For those of you who haven’t heard of this gem before, it’s a gluten-free, sometimes sugar-free, sometimes vegan, bakery based in Manhattan with shops in LA and now Disney World. I was able to visit Babycakes while I was in NYC this week so keep your eyes open for another Babycakes post soon!
This video in particular — to get people excited about the first Babycakes recipe book — is pretty lovable, informative, and exciting. Erin McKenna (the starlet of this short and founder of the bakery) seems so authentic and charming.
Here are a couple other nuggets I enjoyed from around the web over the past few days:
Time to Take a Chance? by Wayne Dyer: I think Wayne is the COOLEST. Okay, maybe second to Louise Hay, but you catch my drift. One of my favorite quotes from him is: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Ah, that’s good stuff. In this article in particular, the point he introduced that struck me the most was: “Refuse to use the term “failure” about yourself or anyone else.” Failure’s about the way we perceive that something should happen, and “shoulds” always lead to trouble.
After watching the “Yogawoman” documentary, I’ve been reading up a bit more about Patricia Walden. She’s is my yoga teacher’s teacher, regularly studies under B.K.S. Iyengar in India, and is one of only two teachers in North America to hold a senior advanced certificate in the Iyengar method of yoga. This Globe article from 2010 discussing her take on the commercialization of yoga fascinated me.
