How much do I love the Pioneer Woman? Enough to remind you that her blog gets over 22 million page views monthly. Enough to remind you that Columbia Pictures has already signed on to make “Black Heels to Tractor Wheels” into a movie about Ree (hint: Reese Witherspoon). If you haven’t heard of her, get in on this. She’s the real deal.
“Black Heels” was born out of a few extremely popular blog posts from the Pioneer Woman detailing how she met her cowboy husband, whom she always refers to as Marlboro Man. Oh Ree, you nailed that nickname.
I particularly liked the way she ended her introduction chapter:
“I hope you love the story. I hope it makes you smile. I hope it reminds you of the reasons you fell in love in the first place. And if you haven’t yet found love, I hope it shows you that love often can come to find you instead…probably when you least expect it.”
And then this quote about Marlboro Man:
“Marlboro Man was so willing to put himself out there, so unafraid to put forth his feelings. I simply wasn’t used to this. I was used to head games, tactics, apathy, aloofness. When it comes to love and romance, I’d developed a rock solid tendency for mediocrity.”
I have such a soft spot for country living; this book is like my kryptonite. And it was another example of how, as my Aunt always says, “When you find the right guy, it just works.”
